Lesser Arcana: Finishing up my 'Album'
- 2 minslesser arcana OST
Okay, not a real soundtrack to anything. yet!
I spend a lot of time playing music
Essentially it is a way that helps me relax. I only rarely actively listen to music. I never really learned how. I have genres that I like but for me it is mostly a background thing for setting the mood for another activity. For this reason I have always been bored at concerts (at least concerts where there is no dancing going on). For me I would rather be creating music rather than listening to it.
However, since I use it mostly as a relaxing activity, I don’t really produce much in the way of recordings or finished songs. On the accordion just about all the songs I’ve come up with I’ve forgotten as I’ve moved onto other things. For electronic music production, once I start spending too much time on a track, it begins to feel like work and is no longer relaxing. Unless it is for a specific project, I have no desire to get mechanical with my music.
That all being said, I’ve been moving to a new laptop and didn’t want to lose all my work. (its happened before. documenting my reality has never been my strong suit) So I tried to bring some of my songs and loops to a close, even if they are properly “finished”.
So I’ve published them on bandcamp. Maybe if they ever get finished-finished I’ll look to put them on Spotify, but that’s not a priority yet. I whipped up some album art too, inspired by PC98 graphics. I’d say I’m about 80% happy with how it all turned out, art and music. However, I know that to get to 100% it could months, so I’m happy to publish what I have a reserve the right to update and modify it. :)
I have a somewhat hoarder mentality when it comes to collecting virtual synthesizers and electronic samples. (probably better than collecting real synthesizers) So I can’t really speak to everything I used in my music. However, I have gotten a lot of mileage out of software emulation of the Nord Lead 2, Jupiter 8, Yamaha DX7 synthesizers, as well as emulated sound chips from old video game consoles and ripped sound files from old video games.
