Morrowind Lamp Designs

Making my first lamp

This past year I’ve come to have access to a hackerspace, something that I’ve never utilized before and honestly I feel like I’ve really missed out!

One of the first things I’ve tried to do is get the hang of the laser cutters.

My first project was to make a lamp, which I did through a class at the hackerspace. This is a super basic project that requires no IRL fabrication skills so seemed like a good start.

My 2D design was centered around making a rectangular shape but avoiding the visible finger joints common in a lot of laser cut pieces. My solution was a bit ambitious as it led to a very difficult assembly process.

The many small parts in the design made it a bit difficult to punch out all the parts that had been cut out. The laser cutter also didn’t cut through everything, even though I made 2 passes with the laser. Curved pieces in particular didn’t do the best.

However, over a few days I was eventually able to glue it together!

But what about Morrowind?

Once I finished the first lamp, I started thinking about other lamps to make. I thought it would be cool to make some Morrowind great house themed lamps.

Since my sister played through as Hlaalu, I started with that one as a gift.

Still have to finish cutting it out.
